John Rolfe Middle School To Interview for Principalship

Well, well, well,…..UGOTNERVE received a report today indicating that Andy Armstrong, “acting” principal of John Rolfe Middle School who was “appointed” by Superintendent Morton as THE principal, has openly admitted that he was hired as “acting” principal in October 2007, and now the district is posting the position again.

Based on reports close to the issue, Armstrong shared that he will be “throwing his hat” into the candidate pool.  Is it us, or was that illegal for him to announce to the entire faculty that is going to be evaluating the candidates that he was “throwing his hat” in the pool?  Sounds like yet another act of intimidation by Armstrong to those that were placed on the search committee.  It was said that Dr. Patrick Kinlaw, Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services, and Marilyn Royal, Director of Middle Schools, were present when Armstrong made these questionable comments.

Hmmmmm……sources state that the interview process for the principal of Rolfe will begin next week.  How is that possible when the position has not even been posted on Henrico’s website yet?  This smells very funny if you ask us.  Policies state that a job must be posted for at least two weeks prior to closing it out and holding interviews, but when have we known Henrico’s central office to follow policies regarding the hiring and promoting of qualified personnel.

Even with the world watching, they will most likely do the wrong thing and put Armstrong back in the role just because he is white.  So what if he is not qualified!  So what if he is not a disciplinarian! So what if he does not treat his staff members fairly! So what if he is does not have a vision or direction for the school! So what if he can’t hold teachers and administrators, including himself accountable!  So what!  He is nice and he is white, so he deserves the position.  PA-THETIC!

To help everyone out, we have come up with our own top ten reasons that Armstrong should not be the “REAL” principal of Rolfe:

1) He is rarely visible or available to the staff, parents, or students.

2) He does not return emails or phone calls to parents or educators.

3) He does not work to bring the entire staff together, despite his personal preferences for weak leaders like Rokenbrod, Ellis, and Jordan.

4) He practices favortism, discrimination, and retaliation when dealing with staff and students.

5) He is not an INSTRUCTIONAL leader and cannot offer any teacher any type of instructional support.

6) He is not a disciplinarian and does not work to create safe schools, instead he works to create dangerous schools, with no one enforcing the rules; as long as he does not have to confront a parent.

7) He does not know how to hold poor teachers and administrators accountable for failing our children by not doing their jobs.  He would rather let them be than get them out in order to avoid confrontation.

8) He has lied to parents and educators alike.

9) He has done very little to raise staff morale, unfortunately games and food don’t cut it!  Each member of the staff must feel valued.

10)  He was not qualified and has proven that he is continues to be unqualified to meet the needs of a diverse, at-risk, highly challenging student, parent, and educator population that needs a visionary leader, not a weak,spineless, unmotivated, and uncaring man that was just “given” the job.

Our children deserve better than Andy Armstrong.  The fact that this district is permitting him to interview for the principalship, knowing that he has violated district, state, and federal laws repeatedly when dealing with parents, educators, and most importantly, students with special needs is a proof that Henrico’s administration not only lacks integrity, does not place children as the priority, and is still willing to play the “politics” game, but it also shows what we have always said, “THEY AIN’T GOT NO SENSE!”

“IF YOU KEEP DOING WHAT YOU HAVE ALWAYS DONE, YOU WILL ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU HAVE ALWAYS GOTTEN!  DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT OUTCOME IS THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY!”—A SMART PERSON SAID.

Well, we have a group of parents and educators that are going to be watching Henrico’s every move regarding the hiring of the principal for Rolfe, and you best believe that if we even smell anything that stinks, we will put it all on blast!

IT IS TIME FOR HENRICO TO DO THE RIGHT THING BY ROLFE’S CHILDREN, NOW!
