Dear John Montgomery, Lisa Marshall, Linda McBride, Lamont Bagby, and Diana Winston,
Why are you allowing Henrico County Public Schools to be ran as though it were Aushwitz, one of the most horrific concentration camps in Germany, ran by Hitler’s SS during World War II, where they carried out their “final solution” directive aimed at destroying an entire generation? It is time for this board to receive a history lesson.
Modern-Day Auschwitz Concentration Camp
Auschwitz was a camp that was established by Hitler in order to carry-out his racial extermination, or “final solution” directive, whose intent was to destroy anyone that did not look, think, or act in the manner in which Hitler approved, which is the same atmosphere that is alive and well in Henrico schools, and that is embraced and protected by Henrico’s school leaders and this board.
What is this board allowing to be exterminated? the right to an appropriate education for thousands of children within the district with the required resources and leaders, the right of hundreds of educators to teach in a safe and professional environment without fear or persecution, and the right of parents to advocate for their children without becoming targets or being intimidated by school leaders. This extermination action has students, teachers, and parents of color as its main victims.
Just like Henrico County Public Schools, specifically schools on the East End, Auschwitz was mainly ran by those prisoners who were hand-picked by ruthless SS officers who carried out every evil directive of Hitler.
The living conditions at Auschwitz were unbearable, just as they are in some Henrico schools; no heat, no hot water, no working toilets, no safety, broke down buildings, and on and on.
What is the most horrifying similarity between some Henrico County Public Schools and Auschwitz is that when families, children, and teachers were told that they were going to Auschwitz, they were lied to by the camp’s leaders, as families, children, and teachers in Henrico are lied to by the district’s leaders.
When children, parents, and others entered Auschwitz, they thought that they were going to a “safe” place where they would be taken care of because they believed the words of those in charge. Instead, by the thousands, these people were “coaxed” into gas chambers, where camp leaders dumped cyanide pellets into the chambers that appeared to be showers. All because they dared to trust those in leadership to act in the best interests of their children and themselves. History tells us that thousands of women, children, men, seniors, disabled, and others were murdered in this despicable manner by those leaders that they trusted.
The experience described in Auschwitz is a powerful metaphor of the state of conditions for many children, families, and teachers within the district. Of course, there are those who are prisoners, or henchmen, within the district, who are more than willing to carry-out the directives of the Hitler-like dictator under the leadership of his SS stooges.
Just as they did in Auschwitz, families enter Henrico County Public Schools thinking that they are going to be “taken care of” because the leaders of the district have said that they would take care of them, and yes, these families trust them just like the Jewish concentration camp prisoners trusted the Nazis’ word.
When children, parents, and educators enter some Henrico County Public Schools, they think that they are entering “real” schools, just as the Jewish prisoners thought that they were entering “real” showers. Instead, thousands of Henrico’s children, parents, and teachers are lead, “like sheep to the slaughter,” into “academic concentration camps” where there is no intention of truly educating children, allowing teachers to teach, or fighting, at all costs, for the success of every child.
Instead of dumping cyanide pellets into these Henrico schools as the SS officers did to their victims in Auschwitz in order to ensure “final solution”, Henrico’s leaders dump pellets of academic failure, unchecked school violence, unqualified teachers, unethical and incompetent building administrators, indifferent central office staff, and more; all with the intent of ensuring that a modern-day “final solution” is taking place through out Henrico County Public Schools in massive numbers.
The SS officers and Hitler denied the existence of the horrible conditions within Auschwitz, and even went as far as to deny their role in the atrocities that were committed against vulnerable prisoners; knowing full well that they were physically, spiritually, and emotionally murdering an entire generation of human beings, without remorse, without accountability, and without responsibility.
Just as the SS officers and Hitler denied their hideous acts; Henrico’s leaders continue to do the same as they actively promote, defend, and at times, cover-up for the hideous acts that they are committing against the district’s most vulnerable citizens, its children. Again, just like the SS and Hitler, Henrico’s school leaders are fully aware of the fact that they are systematically destroying a generation of human beings by destroying them emotionally, physically, spiritually, professionally, and academically; all without remorse, without accountability, and without responsibility.
It took an outside force to intervene and stop the murderous rampage of Hitler and his SS men, in addition to closing down their “final solution” effort at Auschwitz. The general consensus is that Hitler and the SS were one of the most evil human forces that this earth has ever seen as a result of the terror that they initiated, endorsed, promoted, and defended against innocent victims for years.
Mr. Montgomery, Ms. Marshall, Ms. McBride, Mr. Bagby, and Ms. Winston, what will it take for this board to terminate the “final solution” efforts that are going on in Henrico County Public Schools, or will this board allow Henrico to be a history lesson for others to see fifty years from now, on how the futures of thousands of children were destroyed while this district’s leaders watched indifferently?
Whether it is cyanide or academic failure…..
Whether it is Auschwitz or a Henrico school……
Whether it is a Nazi leader or an arrogant and indifferent school board member…..
Whether it is an SS officer or an incompetent building administrator…..
Whether it was Hitler or a dictator-like superintendent…..
the outcome has been the same; a “final solution” that has resulted in enormous levels of suffering, death, and fear for innocent and vulnerable children who deserve the best from this board, and are waiting for it……..
MONTGOMERY “RAN” AWAY FROM A GROUP OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN PARENTS AND EDUCATORS THAT MADE AN ATTEMPT TO HAVE A FRANK AND OPEN DISCUSSION WITH HIM ABOUT VIOLENCE, UNSAFE CONDITIONS, AND AN INCOMPETENT PRINCIPAL…..HE RAN! YES, HE RAN AWAY FROM THEM! HE RAN! HE PHYSICALLY RAN!
