Dear Superintendent Morton,
There are students, like myself, in Henrico County Public Schools, that you have forgotten and ignored. At first, I thought that you did it by accident, but now, I am certain that you and the other leaders in Henrico have ignored and forgotten us on purpose because you cannot relate to, do not understand, and do not care about us.
Many parents, teachers, students, and others have confronted you about ignoring and forgetting about us. Those of us that are black, latino, poor, and have special needs. You chose not to be our superintendent, but to be our suppressor. You have not given us your best as a leader, and have robbed many of us of our education, safety, and belief that adults will act in our best interests if they are over us.
Superintendent Morton, you do not show compassion or even want the best for students in Henrico County Public Schools or you would speak and act like it. You would also put people over us that care about as and that are able to help us be successful, but you do not. You put your friends over us that care more about a paycheck and their own futures that they care about our learning and our futures.
Superintendent Morton, you have failed all the children of Henrico County Public Schools.
Superintendent Morton, you have failed all the parents of Henrico County Public Schools.
Superintendent Morton, you have failed all the teachers of Henrico County Public Schools.
Superintendent Morton, you have failed the entire community of Henrico County Public Schools.
Superintendent Morton, why do you keep the things and people that we need to be successful away from us?
Superintendent Morton, why is it ok with you when we fail, when we are not safe, when we are abused, when we are neglected, when we are not given the best education that you would want for your own child?
Superintendent Morton, why do you purposefully hurt us and set us up for failure?
Superintendent Morton, why do you cover up for the people that you put over us that cannot and do not do their job of educating us?
Superintendent Morton, why do you pretend that you are doing right by us and keep lying about what is really going on when you know that you are not?
Superintendent Morton, why do you live day after day knowing that every day in Henrico County Public Schools, students like me are quickly seeing our hopes, dreams, and opportunities stolen away by you because you refuse to put our needs before the needs of yourself and your adult friends?
Superintendent Morton, why is it ok that there are some schools here that are a living hell for us and you act as though you are satan himself; killing, stealing, and destroying our lives?
Superintendent Morton, why is it ok for one school to be unsafe, for one school to fail, for one student to be abused, for one parent to be intimidated, for one teacher to be harassed; all because the stand up for us…stand up against you?
Superintendent Morton, nearly 50,000 students were counting on you to be on our side, but you choose to be against us, why?
Superintendent Morton, the students of Henrico County Public Schools are very disappointed in you. You had the unique, once in a life time chance to change all of our lives for the better, for ever, by making sure that we received the best educations, in the best schools, by the best teachers, under the best principals possible, but for the past five years, you have missed that opportunity and have caused our failure, our frustration, our pain and suffering.
Superintendent Morton, we hope that you can live the rest of your life knowing that you have caused the suffering and pain of thousands of students and families because you do not have a heart for us, but wanted to be over us.
Superintendent Morton, we pray that when we are blessed enough to get rid of you from this county, that the next superintendent will want us, all of us, to be successful and will make sure that we have the tools, the teachers, the schools, and the principals for all of us to be successful.
Superintendent Morton, we don’t blame your failing us all on you, the people on the school board are also to blame for not holding you to do your job and not doing what they promised.
Superintendent Morton, our parents said that we deserve the best education possible, why don’t you agree with them?
Superintendent Morton, why do you hate us so that you would not do all that you can do to help us? What have we ever done to you to deserve this type of bad treatment from you?
We students are waiting for adults in Henrico County Public Schools that love us enough to do whatever it takes for us to have a chance at life by having a good education. You have shown us that you can’t and won’t do it, so……..
We are waiting for justice, for our future, for our hopes, for our dreams, for our education……………..
We are waiting for someone to break us out of the prison that your empty words, your careless actions, your poor decisions, have put us in………….
We are waiting……………………
