When God assigns purpose to us, He releases His power, IF we would just use it. Our assignment is clear, we are bring the kingdom of heaven to this earthly realm, by any means necessary. This is the fundamental grounds for the concept of “spiritual warfare.”
While we live on earth, we have God’s anointing, power, and authority on earth. Very few people truly understand the anointing, power, and authority that we are charged to walk in within this earth. We have been given this anointing for one purpose and one purpose only:
“To stand for and demonstrate the power of God by directing people to the salvation of Jesus, and liberating those that are bound by the injustice, corruption, and oppression of this world.”
When we read God’s word, there is account after account of Jesus being “insubordinate” to the religious and government officials of that day. In fact, the reason that these leaders conspired to crucify him was primarily due to the fact that the could NOT control him, could NOT silence him, could NOT stop him from being an example of freedom, and could NOT stop him from liberating others.
Many Christians fail to realize that Jesus, The Christ was a political, social, educational, AND spiritual revolutionary. He confronted and defeated injustice, corruption, and discrimination no matter where he found it or who he had to approach about it. He did so with authority, conviction, and without fear, after all, it is His father’s world, not theirs.
Jesus understood that the rulers of this world did not have God’s kingdom, ways, and norms as their priority, as a result, He had to “put them in their places” repeatedly. God NEVER gives anyone power for one’s own use. God give us power, anointing, and authority so that we can work on behalf of others, whether it be speaking for the poor, standing for orphans, defending the elderly, or demanding justice for the powerless.
God has given us the charge of being HIS ADVOCATES.
Many heroes of old within God’s word were the example for us; as Jesus was the ultimate example. At a very young age, Jesus stood before religious leaders and declared:
God’s Spirit is on me;
he’s chosen me to preach the Message of good news to
the poor,
Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and
recovery of sight to the blind,
To set the burdened and battered free,
to announce, “This is God’s year to act! (Luke 4:18-21)
This is the reason that the Spirit of God is upon us. Jesus proclaimed His mission, lived His mission, fought for His mission, and even, risked all for His mission.
We know, who wants to risk loosing all, being ridiculed, ostracized, targeted, lied on, fired, suspended, reassigned, demoted, overlooked, bypassed, discriminated against, retaliated against, or even have your family harassed by your opponents coming to your home?
The fact of the matter was that Jesus was a powerful threat to the status quo of that day, as are His true followers in this modern time. The systems of this world are violently against anything that is related to God and His values. God’s values demand that justice, equality, freedom, and His kingdom be realized in this earth.
That is the only reason that we are here on earth, to “fight the good fight” as we bring His kingdom to earth and tear down the world’s corrupt systems that kill, steal, and destroy anything and anyone that it encounters.
What grieves our Heavenly Father the most, as it would any parent, is that we, as His children, consistently fail to live up to our fullest spiritual potential in order to transform this world into the God’s reality.
The enemies of God’s children and of His kingdom being realized engage in “terrorist attacks”, as Bishop T.D. Jakes states, in order to defeat our faith, our purpose, and our witness. His enemies, who are also our enemies, seek to make examples out of us in order to stop God’s kingdom from coming and to instill “terror” in those that dare to stand against them as we work to shine God’s light for the purpose of exposing their dark acts.
What are the examples of “insubordination” to the world’s illegal, unethical, immoral, and anti-God mentalities? The list is endless, but we want to share a few that have inspired us to continue to:
Dr. Martin Luther King said it best when he said: “When we ask Negroes to abide by the law, let us also declare that the white man does not abide by law in the ghettos. Day in and day out he violates welfare laws to deprive the poor of their meager allotments; he flagrantly violates building codes and regulations; his police make a mockery of law; he violates laws on equal employment and education and the provisions of civil services. The slums are the handiwork of a vicious system of the white society; Negroes live in them, but they do not make them, any more than a prisoner makes a prison.”-The Trumpet of Conscience, 1967
Jesus, The Chris, Martin Luther King, Jr., Mohatma Ghandi, Jackie Robinson, Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas, Nelson Mandella, Jessie Jackson, and millions of others throughout history have stood against the directives of those abusing their authority for the purpose of oppression, discrimination, and enslavement.
These warriors of old and those warriors that walk the earth with us today that continue the fight, whether it be alone or with a group, understand their God-given assignment and the purpose of the power that He has given them. As Dr. J. Rayfield Vines, Director of Henrico’s NAACP stated after hearing the “call to action” oratory of Mrs. Lucas, “it takes enormous inner strength to stand, and it takes even greater strength to stand against evil when you must stand alone.”
That is the example that God has compelled us to follow, through His power in order to bring His kingdom to this earth!
KEEP UP THE NERVE, GET ON THE ENEMIES’ NERVES, PASS ON THE NERVE!
